Round 11 of this year's Supersport World Championship takes teams and riders to the most western point of Europe to the Circuito do Estoril at Portugal's Atlantic coastline.
To wrap up the 12-event season, the series returns to Southern Europe. This weekend, riders will battle for victories and points for the penultimate time at the Estoril circuit, not far from Lisbon. The racetrack, just a stone’s throw from the exclusive seaside resorts of Estoril and Cascais, is starting to show its age. Yet thanks to its attractive track layout, it remains a popular venue on the championship calendar for production-based race bikes.
Dominique Aegerter is one of those who looks forward to the championship’s round in Estoril every year. Beyond that, he still holds pole position record since 2022. Over the past three years, the 35-year-old Swiss rider has raced around the track aboard a powerful Superbike. Following his return to the Supersport class, the Kawasaki rider now faces new challenges. However, Aegerter is determined to continue the upward trend he started in Cremona and finish the season in style. Estoril is set to be the first step toward that goal.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636)
«This weekend marks the penultimate round of the championship already. It’s hard to believe how quickly a year goes by. But I’m really looking forward to Estoril because I like that track a lot. I know it well from previous years, and it’s a lot of fun riding there, especially because of its varied layout with very fast sections and a few slower corners. The weekend before the last we took a small step forward, so I hope we can keep this momentum and get that good feeling for the bike again. In Cremona, we were a bit more competitive, which allowed us to set a great pace in Race 2. But as always, it comes down to getting off to a very good start on Friday. That means putting in a good FP1 and then delivering a strong Superpole performance that secures a starting position in at least the first three rows. That’s my first goal for Estoril, which will make things easier for me in the first race on Saturday so I can achieve a strong result. Before that, though, I’m looking forward to getting back aboard my Kawasaki Supersport bike after the short break.»
