2022/09/02 - FIM MotoE™ World Cup 2022: GP di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini / Friday - FPs and Qualifying

Wichtige Pole-Position beim Saisonfinale erobert

Dominique Aergerter ruled out all his skills in qualifying on Friday afternoon, securing a valuable advantage on his sole title rival Eric Granado for the final two races of the season.

After some heavy rain showers on the previous days in the popular holiday region around Rimini, the sun displaced the cruel clouds over the Misano Circuit just in time for free practice sessions. By noon at the latest, summer had returned to the Adriatic coastline.

In the early morning, when the first free practice session of the e-bike series was the opener of the race weekend in Italy, the track was completely dry. Dominique Aegerter got off to a solid start and finished the 20-minute session in fifth place. Improving his lap time by 1.3 seconds in FP2, the 31-year-old again closed in P5, securing the direct entry into Q2. In the time attack for the best grid positions, Aegerter really turned up the heat in the final phase, setting one fastest time after another to which the competition had no answer.

For Aegerter it was his third pole position this year. Possibly this one is the most valuable, though, because Brazilian Eric Granado has to start from the second row in fourth place.

SRF2 will go live on air 15 minutes before the start of the race tomorrow afternoon, while ServusTV will offer a live stream.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica)
Grid position: Pole - 1´43.174 (5/5)

"From our point of view, the start to the weekend was super. In free practice one, we started in fifth place. But we were able to improve well over the course of the day, with the pleasing result that we were fastest in qualifying. This pole position is incredibly important. My crew in the Dynavolt Intact GP Team did a fantastic job, because they improved my bike significantly. I had a much better feeling in the afternoon than in FP2. It is a big relief to start from the front row. As seen in Spielberg, when I had to start from fifth on the grid, I had some difficulties on the first lap every time."

"I hope that everything works out at the start this time so that it will be a bit easier to fight for the podium or maybe even for victory. Then we will see if we can already close the bag tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will continue to be sunny or at least dry. In any case, I do not want mixed conditions that could influence the decision. I like to race here in Misano, and I also will enjoy the support of the many fans. I am sure there will be many Swiss among them. That is why it would be nice if I could already achieve a great result tomorrow."
