Dominique Aegerter comes to the second last event of the MotoE™ World Cup season as overall leader to the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
The e-bike series ends its summer break this weekend in Styria. At the last stop in Assen at the end of June, Dominique Aegerter celebrated a magnificent victory in the first race, and in the second race he saw the chequered flag in second place after some chaos before it got started. One year ago, the 31-year-old Swiss rider finished in third in Styria. In the meantime, however, the Red Bull Ring, which is picturesquely nestled in the landscape of the Styrian Murtal, has a slightly different layout to the track with a new chicane. With this change, the approach to turn three has been defused.
Swiss television will show both races of the weekend live as a stream, as will ServusTV with the broadcast beginning five minutes before the respective race start.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):
"After almost two months off in MotoE, I am really looking forward to Spielberg as well as to meet the Dynavolt Intact GP team again. In addition, the track at the Red Bull Ring suits my riding well, and the Styrian landscape also has its charms. In 2021, we were able to finish on the podium in third place. But after some modifications, there is now a chicane before the turn three. It will certainly be very interesting to get to know this section. As far as I know, this chicane has never been used before. So, we will be the first on Friday morning."
"Other than that, there is not much to say before this weekend, except that there have been two Supersport events during the long break and that I have always been diligent in my training. In MotoE World Cup, I have a lead of 31.5 points in the overall standings before the second last stop. Our goal for Spielberg is to further extend our cushion and fighting for the podium in every race. To do this we need to lay the base with good free practice sessions on Friday and also do well in qualifying. I am happy that things are continuing in the electric bike series, and I am looking forward to the races on Saturday and Sunday."
