2022/07/30 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: Czech Round / Saturday - Race 1

Unscathed after race accident at the start

For Dominique Aegerter, the first race day in the Czech Republic ended with a great disappointment as he suffered his first zero of the year through no fault of his own, bringing his impressive winning streak to an end.

Dominique Aegerter was one of several unlucky riders on Saturday afternoon who crashed and had to retire in the first corner after the start of the first race of the weekend in Most due to a reckless action by another rider. Aegerter, as well as all the others, fortunately remained unhurt in this incident.

The second race of the weekend will start at the usual time on Sunday at 12:30 CET. It can be followed via live stream on the internet platform of the Austrian rights holder ServusTV.com.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6)
Grid position: 4th / Race 1: DNF

"We had a strong weekend until the start of the race. This morning we began with P4 although, I could not do that many laps in qualifying because the track was still wet in some places and then there was also a red flag. Therefore, I only was able to put in two really good laps. Under these circumstances, fourth place on the grid was okay and at the start, I got away really well. But unfortunately, my race was already over in the first corner because another rider caused a huge chaos there and I was thrown off my bike. I was pretty upset, but I wanted to keep going."

"I was also disappointed that this incident denied me to win for the tenth time in a row, as well as the lost points for the championship. Because Baldassarri won, we lost 25 points in one fell swoop. But complaining does not help, so I am already concentrating on Sunday. I will rest well tonight so that we can achieve the best possible result in the second race tomorrow. A thank you to my crew who will fix my bike by tomorrow."
