Dominique Aegerter doesn't let changeable weather stop him. In light drizzle, the 31-year-old Swiss won the second race at the third Supersport meeting of the season in style again.

After a significant cool down and strong winds but dry conditions on Saturday, the weather deteriorated further last night when a rain front reached the Estoril region at Portugal's Atlantic coast. Sunday morning's warm-up was the first wet session of the weekend. On a very slippery track, Dominique Aegerter risked nothing unnecessary and finished eleventh.

A few hours later, Aegerter and his Dutch Ten Kate Yamaha Racing Team celebrated their fifth win of the season in slightly better, but equally difficult track conditions due to the recurring drizzle. At the same time, it was the fifth in a row for the successful team. Reigning Supersport champion Aegerter had to summon up all his skills for this and also proved to have the right instinct when he resolutely took the lead shortly before the end of the race and brought a 2.3 second advantage over the runner-up to the line.

The next race weekend of the Supersport World Championship will take place in three weeks at the Misano circuit in Italy.

"It was another fantastic weekend for us. Today's win is already the fifth in a row and we have increased our cushion in the overall standings a bit again. I think we are doing a great job at all times because as it is to see, we are winning in all conditions and setting the fastest race lap. But today's race was a tough one because the weather conditions changed almost every lap. When we went onto the grid, I had a few raindrops on my visor. It then drizzled lightly again and again. It was not easy to judge how hard I should push. That is why I first looked to the other riders to see how they were coping with the conditions. But as the race went on, a big group came together and there were many hard duels for positions. With four laps to go, I decided to risk a little more and take the lead, because it could have come to a red flag at any time. With a few fast laps I managed to pull away a bit. This effort paid off because it was enough to win again."

They set up the bike perfectly again and were also right with the gear ratio and tyre choice for these difficult conditions. My thanks also go to all the sponsors and supporters and to the Portuguese fans who cheered us on this weekend. Next weekend I am racing MotoE again and after a race-free weekend we will see each other again in Misano, where I really like the track. Last year we won there twice, and I expect us to be strong again this year. We have a very competitive package, but you cannot assume we will win every race. There are many fast riders in this category, and when conditions change at short notice, more come along, as you saw today. Unlike some Italian riders and teams, we did not do any testing at Misano in our pre-season preparation. Therefore, a lot can be expected from my main rivals in the championship. The pressure on us could be a little bit more. But I will give my 100 percent again, and even more if necessary. I will try to enjoy riding and stay focused from session to session so that we are as well prepared as possible for the races. I am looking forward to getting back on my Yamaha R6 in three weeks."
