2022/04/22 - FIM Supersport World Championship 2022: Dutch Round / Friday's FP Report

Dominique Aegerter: «Well done Friday to the start of our home race»

Reigning Supersport champion from Switzerland set an early 1'37.753 on day one of practice, which couldn’t be matched for the rest of the day.

The start of the second race weekend of the season was accompanied by sunny but windy weather conditions.  Dominique Aegerter was once again the benchmark for the competition in the fiercely contested Supersport category.

At the home race of his Ten Kate team, Aegerter initially benefited a bit from a private test three weeks ago at the TT circuit in Assen. Therefore, the Yamaha rider was able to put in a superior best time in FP1 before the 31-year-old rider Yamaha rider struggled a bit due to the changed conditions in the afternoon, and he had to settle for second place in the second session of the day.

The first race of the weekend starts on Saturday afternoon at 15:15 CET, which is to follow via live stream on ServusTV.com. Before that, the best grid positions will be fought out in Superpole.

FP1: P1 - 1´37.753 / FP2: P2 - 1´38.028

"We had a good Friday at my Ten Kate team's home race. The weather was sunny, although the wind was a bit of a nuisance. In the afternoon, the wind got stronger, which bothered us a bit more. During this session we also tried some changes to the setting although, we always had a good pace. We finished free practice one on top and FP2 in second place. So, I am happy with the way things are going and hopefully I can continue giving the team further strong results this weekend. However, it will be a bit more stressful than usual because of all the guests. But I am looking forward to it though and hopefully a lot of fans will come to watch us as well."

"In the morning we maybe had a little advantage after having a test here a few weeks ago. In addition, the data from last year was very useful. The temperatures were very fresh, as they were during the test, which is why we were able to start with a good base. I got off a fast start and at the end my lap time was already at a high level. Because of the stronger winds I could not improve in the afternoon. The changed situation threw me off a bit. We also worked with the tyres and the gear ratio to see how the bike reacts. A race simulation was also on our agenda. All in all, it was a productive day that got us ready for the first race tomorrow afternoon. But first, let us see what comes out before then in Superpole."

"It would be super nice if we could repeat last year's performance when we got everything into our hands. P1 and second in the afternoon underlines very impressively that we are on a good path to achieve something similar to that from last July. But it will definitely not be a piece of cake, as the competition has become closer with new strong riders and the new bikes. Nevertheless, I will do my best to ensure that this home race of my team will be another bull's eye."
