2021/08/05 - FIM Supersport World Championship: Czech Round / Preview

Ready for Supersport debut race in Most

After an outstanding home race for Dominique Aegerter and his Ten Kate team at Assen, the team is looking forward to the fifth meeting of the season this weekend in the Czech Republic.

30-year-old Dominique Aegerter has hit the Supersport World Championship like a bomb. Since the second race in Estoril, the Yamaha rider has rushed from victory to victory. With the magnificent double win in Assen the weekend before last, Aegerter has amassed a nice cushion on his first pursuers in the overall standings.

The series visit to Most has only belatedly slipped into the championship’s calendar. So, the Autodrom Most is practically uncharted territory for most teams and riders. For this reason, Aegerter and his Ten Kate team made a detour to northern Bohemia during the summer break to get a first impression.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha, Yamaha YZF R6):

"After the previous summer break before Assen and most recently a race-free weekend, things are getting busier again this month. The Supersport World Championship round in Most is the prelude to a triple-header for me in August. Next week I will be racing MotoE in Spielberg and a week later Supersport again in Navarra in Spain. Three weeks ago, we took part at a track day in Most. It was incredibly valuable laps and kilometres for me, as I rode last time there 16 years ago. The track layout has changed a bit since then. The first section in particular is quite different now. There was a lot of activity on track, though. Nevertheless, we gained good experience and data. Above all, it was a very productive day for me in terms of line choice."

"I am really looking forward to this weekend now. From what I have heard, the team is once again bringing some innovations for my race bike that will hopefully take us another step forward. In addition, I hope that from Friday we can build on our momentum from the last races and continue as we have been doing. From my side, I will try to stay focused and always deliver my 100 percent. However, it will be important to quickly understand which tyres and setup it requires so that we are optimally prepared for Superpole and the first race on Saturday. In the short break after Assen I trained well and therefore feel in great shape to tackle the challenge of Most."
