On Friday, Dominique Aegerter and his team Ten Kate Racing Yamaha ended up in sixth place at the series’s season opener at Aragón after the first free sessions.

For Dominique Aegerter, the 2021 Supersport World Championship adventure began on Friday at the Spanish circuit MotorLand Aragón with the first two free practices. Conditions were good, although temperatures rose sharply in the afternoon. In cooler temperatures in the morning, almost the entire field set faster times than during the second session in the afternoon. The 30-year-old WorldSSP rookie from Switzerland also put in a good showing with a 1'55.330 in FP1, which put him in sixth position after day one. Before the first race of the season on Saturday afternoon, the Supersport teams and riders go directly into the so-called Superpole. This 20-minute session will determine the starting grid.

"I am happy that things are really getting underway in Supersport World Championship this weekend either. However, we had more trouble on the first day than we would have liked. We had a hard time finding the speed we had here during testing last month. The track’s conditions were a bit different today, but that is the same for everyone else. In the morning, grip conditions were even better, and a few competitors cleverly took advantage of that."

"In the afternoon, the hotter temperatures got to us more than expected. But we will not let that upset us but will continue to work hard so that we are better prepared in this respect tomorrow. Even though we only have qualifying before the first race, we will use this session to improve the bike's set-up. Nevertheless, I am already looking forward to the first race tomorrow afternoon as I feel ready also excited about what lies ahead."
