In the first race at CEV series’ season finale in Valencia, Dominique Aegerter finished in third place on the podium.
30-year-old Dominique Aegerter let flash up his skills gathered with many years of experience at his first appearance in Moto2™ European Championship practically at every opportunity. The Swiss rider, who started from the fifth spot in second row of the starting grid, was able to quickly assert himself in the battles for third place. At this point, however, a gap to the two leaders had already opened. Nevertheless, Aegerter fought doggedly until the end to be able to catch them.
#77 Dominique AEGERTER (LIQUI MOLY Intact SIC Junior Team, KALEX), P3:
"I am not quite as happy with third place in the first race because I had expected a little bit more. I think I lost a better result at the start because it begun with a little problem. That was costly in terms of time. But it did not take long that I got into a good rhythm and was able to work my way up. The race was fun in any case. To go full throttle for 19 laps with this bike was really fun. I like this class and sliding into the corners with a Moto2 machine is that much nice riding at all. That is what I have enjoyed most this weekend so far."
"The top riders in this championship are extremely fast, hats off. But I am convinced that I can fight with the front runners. To do so, however, I need to adjust my riding style, and in certain areas we also need to set up the bike a bit differently. That is why I am happy that we have a second chance on Sunday. So, we will see how we can improve further. In the second race I want to bring home this bike atthe top end. As a thank you, so to speak, for the super job that the entire LIQUI MOLY Intact SIC Junior Team is doing in this championship. They would have earned it every time. After four days, I have settled in well, and it is an incredible joy to be here and to experience this weekend in racing fever."
