2020/10/30 - Moto2™ European Championship: CEV Valencia / QP Report

#CEVValencia: «It is unbelievable much fun»

The ambitious allrounder in terms of motorcycle racing quickly found his way around at his guest start in the Moto2™ European Championship, although unexpected difficulties arose during all days of practice.

The season’s finale of the Moto2™ European Championship is accompanied by fantastic weather so far. It is to be expect that in this respect nothing will change during the next two days in Valencia. Meanwhile, Dominique Aegerter is pulling himself in the for him unusual series considerably out of the affair, even if he has remained a little below his expectations thus far. Aegerter and his experienced technical crew of the German LIQUI MOLY Intact SIC Junior Team were plagued by technical difficulties during free practice sessions and also on Friday morning in the first qualifying heat. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old Swiss rider finished fifth after the chase for the best grid positions. Aegerter will therefore leaving the line from the second row into the last races of the season in this junior championship.

A live stream of the races is shown at the series' YouTube channel.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (LIQUI MOLY Intact SIC Junior Team, KALEX), Grid position 5 (QP1: P5 - 1´37.214 (6/7) / QP2: P5 - 1´36.774 (13/17)):

"First of all, I would like to say that I am super happy to be part of the CEV series at the end of its season this weekend. Especially in fantastic weather like this. But most probably it will be my last race this year. On the other side, it is even more fun to ride a KALEX Moto2 with the 600cc Honda engine once again. My bike was built especially for this purpose, most of the parts are from 2018 and in the garage, I am looked after by a top crew. So, everything is perfectly organized. Once again, a big thank you to the whole Intact team, especially to Jürgen Lingg and Stefan Keckeisen, who made it possible."

"Unfortunately, we had a little bad luck with the technique at the beginning. Therefore, we have not yet found the «Domi setting». I still lack a little bit of confidence with the bike to be able to go the one or another tenth of a second faster. We finished the qualifying sessions in fifth place. Of course, this does not meet our expectations. Until the first race I have to get used to the bike even better and we also need to do more work on the set-up. But I am confident that we will get all these things done right in time and do well in the races. I am looking forward to the two races on Saturday and Sunday."
