2020/10/08 - MotoE™ World Cup: GP de France / Preview

#FrenchGP: MotoE overall victory close at hand

Dominique Aegerter have to make up four points at the season’s finale of the MotoE™ World Cup 2020 this weekend in France to take the title.

Dominique Aegerter is about to start what is probably the most important race weekend of his career. At the last event of the season, the 30-year-old professional rider from the canton of Bern has excellent chances of crowning his rookie season in this still young category with the title. However, prerequisites could be even better if he had not been pushed into the gravel by another rider two weeks ago at Misano. Previously, Aegerter celebrated two sensational victories this season and is now going into the all-decisive race weekend in Le Mans, France, where MotoE Series is making its debut race, as second placed rider overall.

Swiss TV broadcaster SRF shows a recording of both races of the weekend. Broadcast starts on Saturday at 17:25 and on Sunday at 16:55.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Energica):

"I am really excited and cannot wait until the last MotoE race weekend of the year gets underway. I spent the break after Misano well, to prepare myself perfectly for the upcoming task, as well as being top motivated, of course. So, from that point of view, everything is at its place and we can get going on Friday. I am also looking forward to seeing my Intact team again. Unlike Misano, everyone will have to start from scratch in Le Mans. So at least at the beginning everything is balanced. Nevertheless, we could have a slight disadvantage because we lack a teammate in order to exchange and compare data. But we will make up for this with double the efforts. Apart from that, the great experience of my team and myself should be a help in this respect."

"Even though it will be the same for everyone, the weather in Le Mans is always a big question mark. Hopefully, we will have the same conditions at any time, sunshine and a dry track or completely wet always, so that we can work properly in every session. But I have never ridden the MotoE bike in the wet so far. The forecasts predict a 50 percent chance of rain. But I am confident that the changeover with the electric bike in the rain will not that big task. I will not have to think about it anymore, but just try to concentrate on the essentials and on my riding."

"The latter also applies about the overall standings. So, I will try not to get involved in any arithmetic games. That only distracts. We simply have to focus on getting to the front of the pack in the free practice sessions as well as in E-Pole, so that we have a good starting position for the first race on Saturday. A good result in the first race is then just as important, as this is also the starting position for the last race of the season on Sunday. In any case, I am looking forward to getting back aboard my MotoE machine and I am already excited to see how this bike is to ride at Le Mans. This stop-and-go circuit suits me."
