2020/08/08 - Moto2™ World Championship 2020: GP Ceske republiky / QP Report

Pleasing progress on a hot Brno Saturday

During both days of practice at Moto2’s Czech round, Dominique Aegerter quickly made friends with the Japanese NTS chassis.

29-year-old Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter convinced once again with his all-rounder qualities when he stands in for his compatriot Jesko Raffin in the Dutch RW Racing Team this weekend. It did not take a long time for the experienced racer to develop a feeling for the previously unknown motorcycle. Unfortunately, in Saturday's qualifying in Brno, he did not manage the perfect lap to start further ahead than from 23rd spot on the starting grid.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (NTS RW Racing GP, NTS), Grid position 23rd - 2´02.544:

"I am pleased with our progress. Today we were again able to improve well and we are gradually getting on the right track to tune the bike to my needs. With every lap I feel more comfortable with the NTS bike. The same applies to the Moto2 class in general. But unfortunately, the track’s conditions are in poor conditions. The surface offers very less grip. Therefore, everyone has to fight with in terms of pace, because the tyres performing only for a maximum of two laps. In this short time window, the lap time has to be successful, otherwise you have wasted a fresh tyre for nothing."

"In qualifying I unfortunately didn't manage to get more out of the tyre's best life. The first two laps were not perfect. That is a bit of a shame because it could have been the one or another tenth of a second faster. But for the long race distance it looks a bit better from our point of view. We hope that we have a slight advantage compared to our rivals in this respect. So, I am looking forward to tomorrow's race, my first in Moto2 for a long time. Hopefully, I can keep the Swiss flag in front on Sunday again."
