2019/04/14 - Moto2™ WM 2019: #AmericasGP / Race Report

First points with MV Agusta Forward

At his 200th Grand Prix on Sunday, Dominique Aegerter underlined his preferences for the demanding Austin track to came home in 14th place.

From the last row on the starting grid, Dominique Aegerter impressively moved forward through the half of the highly competitive field in Moto2™ class. The 28-year-old Rohrbacher fought his way through to eventually finish in the top 15 for the first time this season. In the end, P14 also meant the first points for the still young project with the sonorous name of the Italian noble brand.

After three oversea races the championship moves over to Europe now where the Circuito de Jerez waits for the Gran Premio de Espana.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward, MV Agusta F2), 14th:

"Today's race was already my 200th Grand Prix so, I feel a bit old. No, I hope I can race in many more. Austin was a weird weekend this time. We started well on Friday. The team has again brought many new parts. Therefore, we had to try a lot. On Saturday, however, the weather has thwarted the bill, as FP3 literally fell into the water. Then there was a small technical problem in qualifying, which was why we had to start from the very far end of the starting grid. But I had a good start, as the team gave me an almost perfectly prepared bike. I felt very well and was able to fight my way through. During the whole distance I made no mistakes and finally I crossed the line in 14th position. I am pleased and even a little bit proud that I brought the first points to MV Agusta on its return after 42 years in grand prix racing. Incidentally, with our gap of 27 seconds to the winning time, I’m reasonably satisfied with. But the more important fact is that we took the first points for this project today. That was our goal too. Apart from that, we can take a lot of this race with us. In the breaks between the races, the team always works hard with the engineers and they are constantly trying to improve the bike. That's really motivating that both sides are fully behind this project. Therefore, I can’t wait for the next race. Following the Jerez Grand Prix, we have a test that will surely help us to move forward. Sometimes we are not that far away from the others, but for now I'm happy about this weekend's event. A big thank you to the entire team and all sponsors for their support."
