#DA77: SOLID OPENING DAY AT HOT ARAGÓN

Dominique Aegerter completed day one of practice with just one second off in P20 of the combined free practice times.

The season’s round 14 began on Friday with nice weather and significantly increasing temperatures in the afternoon. The weather situation is very stable this weekend so that teams and rider have to expect very hot conditions for Sunday’s race in Spain’s outback.

Dominique Aegerter, who is best physical conditions, and it’s Kiefer Racing team kicked off the weekend with two clean sessions on Friday. Although the Swiss rider normally struggles a bit with the demanding track at MotorLand Aragón, he got off a good start during FP1 this morning, recording already very competitive lap times right from the start. In much hotter conditions in the afternoon, however, Aegerter was unable to improve on his morning lap time.

"We started well this morning and I immediately came up with very decent lap times. At the end of the day, we are just one second off the pace which is certainly not bad considering this long track. But our position in P20 shows again how tight the competition is. From our perspective, there is certainly room for improvements though, both from the rider’s point of view as well as on the bike’s side. So, this we will try and improve tomorrow. Apart from that, it is very hot here too, which is why I, the bike and the tyres have to suffer a lot. That is why it is important to make progress with regards to our pace, so that we will be able to make it into the top 15 in tomorrow’s qualifying and then into the top ten on Sunday in the race."
