2024/02/05 - FIM Superbike World Championship: GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team presentation

Misano hosts euphoric team presentation

Dominique Aegerter and his GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team officially kicked off the new season today by presenting new livery and design for the campaign ahead. 2024 will be Aegerter’s second year with the Italian outfit in the highly competitive Superbike World Championship.

The new year began with a minor setback for 33-year-old Dominique Aegerter. Due to a viral infection, he missed both important tests in Jerez de la Frontera and Portimao at the end of January. Aegerter, meanwhile, has recovered sufficiently to attend the official presentation of his GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team in Misano on Monday. In good spirits and confident mood that he will be able to make the trip to the championship opener in Australia at the end of this month, the ever-friendly Swiss rider appeared in the latest colours and new design.

The opening round of the 2024 FIM Superbike World Championship will take place on the last weekend of this month from February 23rd to 25th at the unique circuit at picturesque Phillip Island in the south of Australia. On the Monday and Tuesday before the first races, there will be a two-day test at the same track.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, Yamaha YZF R1)

"Before I come to the actual topic of this newsletter, I would like to mention that I am now feeling better again. Nevertheless, I am still a little annoyed that I was forced to miss the first tests in Jerez and Portimao due to a viral infection. At home in Switzerland, I consulted a few doctors to find out what the best way is to get fit again as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, I still have to be careful in training so that my body can recover 100 percent from this virus. But now I am looking forward to presenting myself and my team in the new colours for this year and announcing my goals."

"I am very happy to be part of the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team again this year. I am proud to represent the colours of the team and all the sponsors and hopefully bring them into the spotlight as often as possible. A big thank you to everyone for their confidence in me. I will do my best to justify this. We are going into the new season with clear ideas about our goals. However, the start at Phillip Island will be quite challenging for me as I have not been on a race bike for almost four months until then. Fortunately, we still have a test there, so I can get back into the swing of things and up to speed before the first race weekend. It will also be interesting to see how my physical condition is, as I was absolutely unable to work on my training plans for up to four weeks after the infection."

"So, it remains to be seen how things will go during the first race weekend and then we have a month's break until the next one, where I will continue to work hard on my fitness. A test a week before the race in Barcelona is very convenient for me to catch up on the test work, I missed during the winter. Nevertheless, my goals are very high, especially because of the last race last year. I want to finish the championship in the top six and regularly fight for podium places. I also will do everything I can to achieve my first victory in Superbike World Championship this year. I definitely want to be the best Yamaha and Independent Team rider. I realize that these are very ambitious goals, but if I finish the season in the top six, it will be a great season for me. I am looking forward to getting back on my Yamaha Superbike and continuing with my great team and putting our plans into action."
