2019/11/16 - Moto2™ World Championship 2019: GP de la Valenciana / QP Report

#ValenciaGP: To put in another 110 percent in the last race of the year

On Saturday in such a tight competition, Dominique Aegerter only missed his promotion to the second phase of qualifying by a hair's breadth.

In significantly better conditions than the day before, the time chase for the best starting positions developed into a true thriller of hundredths of a second. Dominique Aegerter missed a ridiculous 0.027 seconds at the end of Q1 to compete then with the best 18 riders to get a place in the first six rows.

#77 Dominique AEGERTER (MV Agusta Temporary Forward, MV Agusta F2), Grid position 19th - 1´35.050 (7/8):

"My last Moto2 race weekend and the farewell to my team started with very cold weather. But compared to Malaysia it was much more pleasant to ride yesterday. Nevertheless, everything started with a very strange feeling for me. To be honest, I still find it hard to understand that on Sunday I’ll be doing my last race in this class, which I love above all else. Nevertheless, I’ll finish the weekend with the same attitude as always and give everything to say goodbye with style."

"After we’ve made a clear step forward from FP1 to FP2 on Friday, we wanted to continue this way during the third session this morning but, unfortunately, we went a little bit in circles. We were not able to tune the bike in the direction I had imagined. But until the first qualifying my crew did a magic job. We almost made it into Q2. But in the end, we’ve to start again from 19th position on the grid. However, the gap to the top is much smaller than in the last races."

"On the last race day of the year I will certainly give my 110 percent to leave this season conciliatory. But first I'd like to congratulate my team-mate Stefano Manzi on his third place on the starting grid. This is the first time that he will start from the front row and it is really a great success for him, for MV Agusta and for the whole team. Even though I still struggle a little bit with this bike by myself, I'm happy for everyone that this project is going forward."
